Filipe is a medical doctor and Health Impact Assessment (HIA) specialist working to assess and manage the direct, indirect, intended and unintended pathways linking development actions, social, economic and environmental factors, and public health. Through HIA, he promotes inter-sectoral action for health promotion and disease prevention in projects in energy, transport, urban development and other sectors. Filipe’s experience includes over 20 HIAs of projects in various socio-economic and cultural settings, and the development of HIA guidelines and tools for various countries and international organizations.
