Principal Markets Development Advisory Specialist, ADB Office of Markets Development and Public-Private Partnership

Ichiro Aoki is a manager of the Asia Pacific Project Preparation Facility (AP3F), a technical assistance facility that promotes infrastructure development with private sector engagement. Through AP3F, he offers technical assistance to the governments of ADB’s Developing Member Countries for them to establish PPP enabling environment and to structure commercially feasible PPP projects. Ichiro is administering over 75 technical assistance projects in 24 countries in the region. Ichiro is also leading some of the technical assistance projects and assisting governments in their PPP capacity building, pipeline development, and policy/institutional reform.

Ichiro joined ADB in September 2010 as Investment Specialist in Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). Until he assumed the current position in 2020, he worked at PSOD on the origination and provision of loans and guarantees to infrastructure projects in South Asia and Central and West Asia. Prior to joining ADB, he worked for Mizuho Bank, one of major Japanese commercial banks, for 15 years and was engaged in infrastructure projects in Tokyo, New York, and Sydney. Ichiro’s experience spans across various sectors including power, transport, energy, and ICT.
