The region’s financial architecture is stronger and more resilient than 20 years ago, but it faces new challenges.
Junkyu has extended policy experience and knowledge in international economic policies and issues. In recent years, he has led the Asian Economic Integration Report’s theme chapter research on financial resilience and roles of international investment policies. Junkyu’s policy research currently includes financial stability and safety nets, distressed assets and resolution mechanisms, regional public goods, financial integration, and macroprudential policies. Before joining ADB, he was an advisory panel members at the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office, Junkyu was also G20 Special Advisor and international economic advisor to the Finance Ministers of the Republic of Korea in 2009-2012, a trade negotiator for the Korea-US FTA and the Korea-EU FTA, and a director at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy.
