Local decision makers, civil society, teachers, and parents need to be engaged with and driving reforms if teaching is going to shift sufficiently to tackle Asia’s learning crisis.
Kirsty Newman is a Senior Education Specialist in ADB’s Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department. Prior to joining ADB she worked for DFID where her most recent job was Head of Education Policy. Kirsty’s career has focused on the use of research and evidence to improve development outcomes. She has worked for research institutions, development NGOs and for United Kingdom policy-making institutions supporting research, evidence-informed policy making and education in developing countries.
