The pandemic, which devastated the tourism industry worldwide, illustrated the importance of Maldives diversifying its economy to sectors other than tourism and travel.
Macrina has over a decade of experience working for both local and international organizations in the fields of economics and governance. Currently, she works as a consultant for the Regional Cooperation and Integration Division- South Asia Department of ADB doing knowledge management and economics-related tasks for Maldives including co-writing the Maldives chapter in the Asian Development Outlook series. She has completed her Master of Science in Governance of Development from the University of Antwerp and Master of Development of Economics from the University of the Philippines.
