Monica ​is an advocate of electric mobility in Latin America. She is the founder and director of Costa Rica Limpia, a citizen platform to promote renewables and zero emission transportation, and Nivela, a think tank focused on sustainability with a focus on politics and policies dealing with development and climate change.​ Monica is associated to E3G and the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leaderships and writes frequently in the media.
