Farmers in parts of Asia have experienced devastating locust infestations in recent years, threatening national and local food security. A dedicated, well-funded team is needed to monitor the pests and take the fight to them.
Noriko Sato serves as a project officer for ADB-financed projects and technical assistance (TA) in the natural resources and agriculture sector in the Central and West Asian region. She currently leads in preparing an investment project for agriculture markets development, strengthening high value agriculture and food security and high value agriculture through adoption of advance technologies in Pakistan. She also led and published various studies on irrigated agriculture and the impacts of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on farm households in Pakistan. She holds a master’s degree in Development Studies from Hiroshima University.
