
Closing the gender gap in the ownership of family businesses
The pandemic is putting pressure on small enterprises, which are disproportionately owned or controlled by men. The right policies could help close the gender gap.
Remedios Baes-Espineda is currently working as a consultant at the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department of the Asian Development Bank. Before joining the Asian Development Bank in 2013, she worked as a statistician/researcher engaged in market research for a few years. She has also spent a significant number of years as a statistician at the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics and the National Statistics Office. Early in her career, she was first exposed to doing research as a Project Development Officer at the Institutional Research and Planning Development office of the Philippine General Hospital.
