The pandemic has underscored the importance of trade facilitation within South Asia and with the region’s neighbors.
Satish Reddy is a Consultant on regional cooperation and trade facilitation for SARC division of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He is working on South Asian Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) program involved in regional cooperation, trade, transit and transport facilitation and customs cooperation matters in the SASEC countries, on behalf of Asian Development Bank. Some of his key contributions include the work program of the SASEC Customs sub-group; customs modernization reforms in the SASEC countries; drafting and negotiation of motor vehicle agreements, transit facilitation, logistics facilitation, SASEC Operational Plan etc. Prior to his stint as a consultant with ADB, he had held a wide range of positions in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Government of India, dealing with administering of indirect tax laws, facilitation of trade and intelligence and investigations. He was awarded the Presidential Appreciation Certificate in India in the year 2012.
