Tamar Bortsvadze

Gender Officer, ADB Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department

In this role she focuses on women’s empowerment and promoting ADB’s gender mainstreaming mandate in the countries of the South Caucasus. She has designed and supported initiatives for integrating gender and social inclusion in a number of sectors, including infrastructure, climate change, urban development, water supply and sanitation, energy, health, and education.

Prior to joining ADB, she provided policy advice and led different initiatives on social policy issues, including social protection, early childhood education, care and support services development and administration for victims of gender-based violence, children and adults with disabilities, and the elderly. She has master’s degrees from the University of Oxford (UK) in evidence-based social intervention and policy evaluation and the University of Sussex (UK) in development studies.
