Knowledge Partnerships for Solutions

ADB-supported projects deliver concrete results that solve specific development challenges in infrastructure, environment, regional cooperation and integration, finance sector development and education. However, there is a lot more to do.
In 2014, ADB operations totaled $22.93 billion. ADB-supported projects deliver concrete results that solve one or more specific development challenges in the core areas of infrastructure, environment, regional cooperation and integration, finance sector development, and education.
However, there is a lot more to do.
Strategic knowledge partnerships are critical for providing effective solutions for development problems. ADB has resolved to build long-term relationships with strategic knowledge partners, comprising private sector and think tanks. ADB will use these partnerships to co-create knowledge solutions that address the priority needs of ADB members.
This week marks ADB’s first Knowledge Partnership Week. The four-day event comprises the Partnership Forum with the Private Sector on 19-20 May, and the 3rd Asia Think Tank Summit on 20-22 May. We will gather under one roof top-notch experts from nearly 150 private sector partners and 60 think tanks.
During the week, and together with government representatives, ADB staff will discuss with these experts and tap innovations to improve the way it does business now and in the future in the areas of health, energy, transport, urban development, water, and so on.
The 3rd Asia Think Tanks Summit will include a thought leaders panel on how international development organizations can engage in knowledge partnerships.
The event is jointly organized by ADB’s Knowledge Sharing and Services Center, the ADB Institute and the Lauder Institute. Roundtable discussions with high-quality presentations will be the main mode of interaction, and there will be many opportunities for networking among the participants. ADB will develop work plans with selected partners for 2015-2017 by selecting key areas for collaboration, and areas that cut across sectors and themes. ADB will also introduce flexible arrangements for more efficient collaboration with knowledge partners.
Together with knowledge partners, ADB can scale up innovative ideas, boost technical excellence, and deliver better results. Will you help us join hands and change how ADB does business, and commit to solving development problems through knowledge partnerships?
