James Villafuerte

Regional Lead Economist, ADB Office of the Chief Economist and Director General, Economic Research and Development Impact Department

Prior to joining the ADB, he was a senior economist at the Department of Treasury and Finance in Australia and an economist at the World Bank Office in Manila. His areas of research include macroeconomic surveillance, early warning systems, and regional economic integration. Mr. Villafuerte obtained his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in economics from the University of the Philippines. He has also completed training on general equilibrium analysis and global trade analysis.
